Brent Shain

Owner/Licensed Funeral Director-CFSP

Brent has lived in the Hugo area since 1983. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Mortuary Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and an AA in Business from Butler County Community College. Brent is very active in the local and state community, having served as President for the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Kiamichi Opportunities Board of Directors, Choctaw County Library Board, and the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association. He helped co-found the Goodland Christian Academy in 1995. He continues to serve on the Choctaw County Arts Council, Southeastern Public Library System of Oklahoma, and NETSEO Trails Boy Scouts Council, as well as other organizations. Since 1984, Brent has been involved in the funeral service in Hugo, serving families in the surrounding area. He is a Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer and, also, a Certified Funeral Service Professional (CFSP), one of the few in the state of Oklahoma. Brent is a member of Victory Life Church, and his interests include golfing and camping. Brent has been married to his wife, Mary, since 1982, and they have four children: one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sarah, and three daughters and three son-in-laws, Sarah and Matthew, Rebekah and Brent, and Anna and Zachary. They have twelve grandchildren whom they adore.

Mary Shain

Licensed Funeral Director/CPC

Mary Shain has lived in the Hugo area since 1983. She has BA in Political Science from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, and a Mortuary Science Degree from Pittsburg Institute of Mortuary Science. She is a Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer and Certified Pre-Need Counselor (CPC) for Mt. Olive Funeral Home. Mary is a member of Victory Life Church under the Duane Sheriff Ministries. Her interests are reading, Bible Study, and spending time with family and friends. Mary has been married to her husband, Brent, since 1982, and they have four children: one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sarah, and three daughters and three son-in-laws, Sarah and Matthew, Rebekah and Brent, and Anna and Zachary. They have twelve grandchildren whom they adore.

Stephen Shain

Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer

Stephen Shain was born in Paris, TX and has been raised in Hugo, OK most of his life, graduating from Goodland Christian Academy in 2004. He graduated May 2008 from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Science in Funeral Service. He is an Oklahoma Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer, serving within Shain Family Funeral Service, Inc. Stephen and his wife Sarah Abigail lived in Durant, OK right after their wedding while Sarah completed her Finance Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. They moved in summer 2010 after graduation to Hugo, OK and both work in the family business. Their son, Boaz David Shain, was born in April 2013 while at Goodland. Stephen is an active member of Victory Life Church, where he and Sarah serve in departments as needed. Loving God, Loving People, & Serving Both is the mission for the Shains, and they strive to further the Gospel in Hugo, OK and the surrounding communities. Stephen thoroughly enjoys time spent with family, camping, hunting, movies, and any activity that involves the Sarah Abigail Shain. They have three lovely children.

Robert Howser

Retired Funeral Assistant

Robert Howser grew up in Oklahoma City, but he has made Hugo his home since about 1967. He has been at the funeral home since the early 1990s, assisting in funerals, doing road trips, and whatever is needed within the organization. Robert is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Victory Life in Hugo. He enjoys working on woodcrafts and old cars. Robert is married to Jeri, and they have two sons, Bob and Joseph, and one daughter, Grace. They have nine grandchildren and enjoy spending time with their family.
