Obituary

A celebration of life for Lorene Linn will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, in the First Baptist Church in Hugo, OK with Pastor Doug McClure officiating; burial will follow at the Grant Cemetery in Grant, OK. Lorene went to be with her Lord September 1, 2018 in Hugo, Oklahoma at the age of 92.

Lorene Linn was born July 25, 1926, in Grant, OK, to Donald Aaron and Bessie Leona (Mannan) Taylor. She graduated from Grant High School in 1944 as Valedictorian. Lorene has five children, Gladys, Donald, Dennis, Patty and Julia. She became a member of the First Baptist Church in Hugo, Oklahoma in 1947, she had moved in 1952, but rejoined the church in 1995. Lorene was the G.A. leader at Clayton Ave. Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher in the Junior department and training union leaders. She worked in Bible school and was active in Evangelism in her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church. She also quilted for First Baptist Church for 10 years. Lorene worked at Camp Maxey, Texas until the end of World War II. She also was employed at Fry Lumber Company for 8 years, then a co-owner of Otasco for many years. She also worked at Little Dixie Community Action Agency as a bookkeeper for 16 years, with four years as RSVP Coordinator for Choctaw County, and at Grant School with Green Thumb. Lorene’s last place of employment was with Mt. Olive Funeral Home.

Lorene was very proud of and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very close to her brothers, sisters and their families. Her sweetest memories were giving birth to her children and seeing each of them baptized. Her favorite hobbies included doing yard work, making quilts, and visiting with friends and family.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Bessie; baby daughter, Holly Sue Linn; three brothers, Deward Taylor, Arnold Taylor, and Marion Ray Taylor; one sister, Catherine Tucker; and one grandchild, Kevin Linn.

Lorene is survived by her sons, Donald Lee Linn and wife, Barbara, Dennis (Danny) Linn, Jr and wife, Denise; daughters, Patty Elaine Swink and husband, Jim, Julia Ann Drake and husband, John, and Gladys Rupe and husband, David; one brother, Jerry Aaron Taylor; two sisters, Nettie Mae Hale, and Eva Jane Woodruff; twelve grandchildren, Michael Luchen, Dodie Luchen, Savannah Linn, Kelley Linn, Jake Holt, Stephanie Holt, Eric Langley, Jeana Jones, Jeffrey Langley, Jessica Worth, Julie Swink, and Courtney Hagen; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church Missionary Account.
