Funeral services for Foy Eldon Rhodes will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Hugo, OK with Steve Harbison officiating. Foy passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in Hugo, OK, at the age of 83.
Foy Eldon Rhodes was born to William (Bill) Jennings Rhodes and Fannie Lee (Forbus) Rhodes on February 17, 1935 in Hugo, OK. He had lived in this area all of his life. The greatest day of his life was when he gave his heart to the Lord. He married his love, Nancy “Louise” Neal, on November 24, 1955 in Hugo, OK, and together they were blessed with 62 years of marriage. Foy was a member of the Hugo Church of Christ, and lived his life serving the Lord, he was a Deacon for 22 years. He loved to keep busy, starting his working career at the family business, Rhodes Appliance. From there he went to Frisco Railroad as a brakeman in 1958, retiring as a conductor in 1978. He also ran Shelter Insurance from 1964 to 1994. Foy loved raising cattle on the ranch, hunting, fishing, and in his later years, trading stocks. Above all else, Foy loved the Lord, and spending time with his family and friends.
Foy was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, JB Rhodes, Glenn Rhodes, and Jerry Rhodes.
Foy is survived by his beloved wife, Louise, of the home; son, Bill Rhodes, and wife, Elaine, of Saginaw, TX; daughters, Pam Bundy, and husband, Brent, of McAlester, OK, Donna Estep of Rockwall, TX, Janet Bertsch, and husband, Kent, of Granger, IN; brother, Dusty Rhodes, and wife, Nancy, of Abilene, TX; sisters, Willene Faris, and husband, Lee, of San Antonio, TX, Gerene Taylor of Hugo, OK; 11grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and life long friends, Ron Springs and Joe Fox.
Family will receive friends Friday, July 20, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel, Hugo, OK.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to The Voice of the Martyrs, Hope Harbor Children’s Home or World Bible School.
